A bimonthly magazine on international affairs, edited in Germany's capital

Home About

The Journal

BERLIN POLICY JOURNAL is a bimonthly digital magazine on international affairs, edited in Germany’s capital and published by the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP). In each issue we report on a diverse range of current and emerging foreign policy topics. We offer in-depth analysis and thought-provoking insights from leading thinkers and commentators, including extensive profiles of decision-makers from Europe and beyond.

It is available via GooglePlay and the Apple App Store to be read on tablets and smart phones. This website carries full-length magazine articles and current blog posts (“The Latest“) on a range of issues including German (“Berlin Observer“) and European policy (“Eye on Europe“), Russia (“Planet Moscow”), the Transatlantic relationship (“Manhattan Transfer“), the wider world (“Beyond the Seas“), security issues (“Bullets and Bytes“), and energy policy around Germany’s Energiewende (“Going Renewable“).

We welcome pitches on a wide range of topics related to current issues in German, European, and international affairs. The best way to see which writing style and article topics we might accept is to read our latest issue. Most stories on The Latest are between 800-1500 words, while stories in the bimonthly issues can be up to 2500 words.

All pitches should be sent to info[at]berlinpolicyjournal.com. Please submit only a one- to two-paragraph summary of what you would like to write, as well as a short introduction and your credentials. We usually don’t accept submissions of completed articles. Due to the large number of offers we receive, we are unable to respond to every submission. If you have not heard back within a few days, then we are unable to publish your piece.

Thank you. We look forward to hearing your ideas!
